The Ethics and Professionalism Committee is dedicated to promoting and strengthening ethical standards and professional conduct among lawyers and judges in the legal community. Through a range of initiatives, the Committee provides education, resources, and guidance that support integrity and accountability in the practice of law.
Committee members contribute to ongoing education through the publication of Ethics Encore, a monthly column in the CMBA Bar Journal, and by supporting the Ethics Hotline as a resource for attorneys seeking guidance. The Committee also administers the William K. Thomas Professionalism Award, recognizing exemplary commitment to professionalism, and developed the What If Preparedness (WIP) Program to help attorneys plan for the unexpected.
The Committee meets monthly and plays an active role in shaping conversations and resources that reinforce the importance of ethics and professionalism across the legal community.
