What is a story? The answer might surprise you. Stories are different than reports. Understanding the difference between explaining what happened and relating a story will transform the way you communicate. All stories have four elements to them, but by adding two additional elements, you can shape and tell short, powerful narratives.

You’ll learn:

  1. Why stories are more than accounts of things that happened—and how that understanding will improve your communication.

  2. The six elements that impactful stories include.

  3. The difference between an anecdote and a story, and how and when to use each of them.

  4. How to examine and tap into your own experiences for storytelling content to use in your work.

  5. What to avoid when telling personal stories (and what to include).

  6. How to bridge into an application of your anecdote to your specific situation.
